I am a first generation American.  My father came to this country in 1921.  Like many immigrants before him, he came to escape religious persecution in his home country, Poland.  I was born in Jackson, Michigan at the end of the Great Depression, in 1938.  My family moved to Detroit in 1942, and my father returned to the home construction business.  I attended Brady Elementary, Durfee Intermediate, and Central High School.  I received a B.A. from Wayne State University, an M.A. from Wayne in 1965.  In 1977 I earned a Ph.D. in Politics from New York University.

Career-wise, I worked for the Social Security Administration in 1962, was drafted into the Army in 1963, and honorably discharged in 1965.  I taught at Oakland Community College beginning in 1970 and retired in 2006.  The College honored me with the title “Professor Emeritus”.

On a more personal note, I married my true love, Leila in 1967.  We were blessed with two wonderful daughters, Jennifer and Tori.  My wife and I celebrated our 51st anniversary in March.
